On Saturday 10th October 2020, Meghan Markle was invited to talk about her life as a young mother in a podcast dedicated to mental health. In all transparency, Prince Harry’s wife also retracted one of her statements, in which she confided that nobody asked her if she was all right?
In 2017, Meghan Markle left her country and ended her acting career to join Prince Harry in the UK. While the star of the Suits series was famous in the United States, her name made headlines around the world following her marriage to Prince Charles’ son. Since then, each of her statements has been deciphered by Internet users.
If Meghan Markle has her share of detractors, it is obviously fragile that she gave an interview to journalist Tom Bradby, during an official trip to Africa last year. With a trembling voice, the pretty brunette had confessed to suffering from rumours spread by the tabloids, and revealed that she was saddened that no one asked her if she was well. These were words that had gone round and round the canvas…
Meghan Markle, who was invited to a podcast by students on World Mental Health Day, reflected on what she had said, revealing that her first few months as a mother had been difficult: “We were on an official trip to South Africa and on the last day, my God, I was tired. I was about to give Archie a bath, I was exhausted.
” After Prince Harry explained that his wife was breastfeeding their son at the time, the Duchess of Sussex continued: “Many people don’t know this, but it’s like running a marathon, between two official engagements, I would run home and make sure our son was eating, and it was a lot.
At the very end, the journalist asked me, ‘Are you all right’ and I didn’t realise that my answer would get so much interest from all over the world, because I just said, ‘Well, thank you, nobody really asks me if I’m all right'”.
I was in a vulnerable situation
If today the young mother is fulfilled, she explained that she did not want to create a buzz by giving the journalist this answer: “I did not think about this answer, I said it honestly, because I was in a vulnerable situation, because I was tired, because there was nothing else, ‘This is what I am, a mother with a four and a half month old baby, and we are tired'”.
In conclusion, Meghan Markle added: “But I think it means a lot, to see that response resonated so strongly with people, because that’s what everyone wants to be asked, if they’re okay.”
