Recently, at the Lion King’s London premiere, all eyes were on Duchess Meghan with the Queen – but not Elizabeth II, no, rather Queen Beyoncé. The singer, who plays the lioness Nala in the film, is said to have called the duchess “my princess” (although Meghan is technically not a princess). Kisses were exchanged, even though the two women had only just met – some saw this mark of intimacy with a member of the royal family as a serious breach of protocol, but the problem is not so much that it is a member of the royal family who initiates the contact.
All smiles, Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z discussed their parenting with the new mom and dad, Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry. We even heard the Duchess say at the premiere, “Tonight is like a date for us!” Every new parent, even a royal one, needs to take a break once in a while.
