Florence St Georges was only in a relationship with Prince Harry for a few weeks in 2011, but couldn’t stand the media pressure. In the columns of the Times, she goes back on the pressure and defends Meghan Markle.
While Prince Harry has been heavily criticized since his marriage to Meghan Markle and their decision to leave the royal family, many of his ex-girlfriends have come to the defense of the American actress. In an interview with The Times, Florence St George (née Brudenell-Bruce), looks back on her short relationship with the Duke of Sussex and the anguish that it brought her. She explains that she quickly realized that such an exposed love affair was not for her: “When I saw during our relationship what it was like to be in the spotlight, I found it really terrifying and decided quite quickly that it wasn’t the right thing for me,” she says.
Although she doesn’t name Meghan Markle or Prince Harry, Florence St George, now married to millionaire Henry St George, makes a clear reference to and support the couple, who have been so disparaged since the Megxit. Also in The Times, she says: “I have the greatest respect for all those who live in the spotlight. The 34-year-old former supermodel is now a fan of pottery, an activity that helps to calm her anxiety after suffering from post-partum depression.
Like Florence St George, Prince Harry’s many exes have all acknowledged that the media pressure of their relationship was difficult to bear. If Chelsy Davy, bored, refused to comment on the Megxit, Cressida Bonas preferred to laugh about it, as she was present at Meghan and Harry’s wedding on 19 May 2018.
