The reunion with the royal family was a special one for Meghan Markle. The Duchess of Sussex would have been surprised by the lack of warmth, the absence of hugs and the very tense atmosphere between the members.

For her, the farewell was “bittersweet”. The reunion with the Cambridge family didn’t go well. The British cameras captured Kate Middleton’s icy “hello” to Meghan Markle and Harry at the annual Commonwealth Celebration Mass at Westminster Abbey on March 10.
Relations between Meghan and Kate were already strained, observers said before the ceremony. And, they were so tense while you could cut the tension with a knife.
What Meghan Markle found most odd about the reunion? The distance from Kate Middleton. Archie’s mum confided in the people around her. An entourage who reported the Duchess of Sussex’s words to the Daily Mirror: “It’s weird for her that no-one’s hugging and everyone’s so uptight, especially Kate”. Kate “barely looked at her and their interactions were reduced to the bare minimum”.
Meghan Markle is known to be a warm and whole woman. She prefers a hug or embrace to formal greetings and curtsey. Last October, at the 10th One Young Summit held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, she hugged the event’s founder as she began to make a reference.
A relative of Meghan Markle’s was quoted in Hello magazine as saying, “At one point, someone said, ‘People don’t usually do this,’ and she said, embarrassed, ‘I’m American, I hug.
So when someone in her family puts distance and is cold, it does something. In the spirit of the Duchess of Sussex, it’s a confirmation that she and her husband made the right choice in leaving, “There’s no warmth between the family members and she wants to raise Archie in a household full of laughter, joy and lots of hugs,” says a source close to the couple.
