Meghan Markle and Harry: Will their 2nd baby have a Royal Title?

0

While they have already revealed the gender of their second child, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are holding back on whether the future member of their family will have his own royal title. Town and Country magazine has found the answer.

What title for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s second child? Speaking to Town and Country magazine, Carolyn Harris ventured a guess. “The new baby would normally have the title of Lord or Lady” as the youngest child of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex according to this royal historian, quoted before the Sussexes’ face-to-face with Oprah Winfrey (during which they confirmed they were expecting a baby girl). However, it would be unlikely that this new royal baby would get a title. Like Archie, the latest member of the Sussex family could have the title of Master or rather Miss, in this case, followed by her first name and the surname Mountbatten-Windsor.

No princess title in sight for the daughter of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. During their interview with Oprah Winfrey, the former actress felt that her first child was also deprived of the title of prince because of his skin color. Hasty conclusion: only the children of an heir to the Crown can obtain this title. Master Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor – a surname that honors the bloodlines of Her Majesty Elizabeth II and Prince Philip – is eligible to use his father’s subsidiary title of Earl of Dumbarton. Seventh in line to the throne, the toddler could well become a prince once his grandfather, Prince Charles, accedes to the throne. The Sussex children, both boys and girls, will then become eligible for the title of royal highness that their parents were deprived of after they walked out of the Firm.

The choice will be up to the Crown

The Duke of Cornwall will have a say in the matter, since these titles depend entirely on the Sovereign. In regretting that her son could not become a prince to Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle forgot to mention that His Royal Highness can, eventually, offer the title of prince or princess to his or her descendants. This was the case when the Queen made the proposal to Princess Anne for her children Zara and Peter Philips. Offer refused by the royal princess. The little Cambridges, George, Charlotte and Louis, could nevertheless become princes and princesses, as the children of a future monarch.
