On the occasion of International Girls’ Day on Sunday 11 October, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry met with Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai. The young parents talked about their baby Archie’s first steps, which they were lucky enough to observe during the confinement, with great enthusiasm.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are very happy parents. The couple, who have decided to give up their royal duties by moving to Los Angeles, are taking full advantage of 17-month-old Archie. And, if the confinement has proved to be very difficult and even anxiety-provoking for many people in the world, for the lovers it has been conducive to special moments with their little one.

At least that is what they confided to Malala Yousafzai. This Sunday, 11 October, on the occasion of International Girls’ Day, the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II and his wife spoke to the Pakistani women’s rights activist via video call.

As they explained, being in their forties at the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic crisis, they were able to “spend time with their little one” and see him walking for the first time. “We were both there for his first steps, his first descent, his first fall, his first everything,” said the 35-year-old father, quoted by The Sun.

As for the 39-year-old mother of the royal baby, she insisted that this period was finally a godsend for their family life. “It’s just fantastic because I think in many ways we were lucky to have this time to watch him grow up and in Covid’s absence, we would travel and work outdoors more and miss out on a lot,” she explained, with a broad smile on her face. She concluded: “So I think it’s been a lot of great family time.

He says a few words like ‘daddy’ and ‘mummy

Like all children his age, Archie is growing up at a crazy speed! As summer approached, the baby had begun to utter his first words. An exclusive source in US Weekly magazine revealed this new stage last June.

“He says a few words, like ‘daddy’, ‘mommy’, ‘book’ and ‘dog’,” he said, and then went on to say, “He likes to play hide-and-seek and use building blocks. Almost a year ago, last November, another source in the American media already spoke about the evolution of the little boy: “He’s a strong baby and you can tell he’s super smart (…). He can sit up without support and turn around. He almost crawls. He can’t talk, but he tries”, he said. So Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have every interest in making the most of the time that passes.
