Meghan Markle and Harry forced to pay back after their juicy Netflix contract?

0

Within days, Sussex announced the signing of a production contract with Netflix and the reimbursement of the work done on their Frogmore Cottage home. And according to a royal expert, the two events are linked.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are digging their furrow in Hollywood. Released from their royal obligations, the Sussex family builds a new life far from England, but still in the spotlight. The couple signed a juicy production contract with the streaming platform Netflix, which, if not announced, could be worth around £100 million (about €110 million). A colossal sum that could well have pushed Meghan and Harry to finally pay off their debt by repaying the sumptuous work of Frogmore Cottage.

According to Sky News royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills, quoted by Expert.co, Sussex would not have had much choice. “I think they were forced into it this week after the announcement of the signing of this huge deal with Netflix,” the expert analysed.

For Rhiannon Mills, this effect of communicating vessels makes perfect sense. “If they earn this money, it makes sense that they pay back to the taxpayer the money from this house that they still want to keep here in the UK,” she added.

Meghan and Harry want to make peace with the British

As the specialist notes, every year a detail of the royal finances raises the British eyebrows. Last year, Frogmore’s work had caused a lot of talk, especially after Meghan and Harry’s announcement that they would relinquish their role in the royal family.

The decision of the Sussex to keep the villa was not to everyone’s liking. “Of course, people then said, ‘Wait a minute, taxpayers’ money was used to fund this and if you no longer work for the royal family, then how is that fair,” reports Rhiannon Mills. Since the announcement of the Netflix contract and the announcement of the Frogmore Cottage repayment took place in almost the same week, it is unlikely that the two events are not linked…
