Concerned for the image of the Crown following their interview with Oprah Winfrey, but certainly saddened to learn more about their despair within the Firm, Her Highness responded to the revelations of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. A bittersweet press release was made public on Tuesday, March 9, the day after the broadcast of their shocking interview on British screens. “The whole family is saddened to learn how difficult the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan,” it reads.
The monarch then responded to accusations of racism made by the Duchess of Sussex. “The issues raised, particularly the issue of race, are of concern. Although some memories differ, they are taken very seriously and will be dealt with by the family in private.” It should be noted that Meghan Markle is already under investigation for harassment and intimidation. Despite the climate of crisis at Buckingham Palace, Her Majesty Elizabeth II promises to keep Sussex close to her heart. “Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be beloved members of the family.”
