Always present to honor the memory of their mother Diana Spencer, William and Harry will meet again for a special occasion next December, as reported by the Daily Mail, Saturday, September 25, 2021.
Brothers and accomplices since their early childhood, Princes William and Harry would be in a cold for a year following the abandonment of the royal commitments of the second, and the revelations made around Meghan Markle. The wife of the younger had denounced the desire of the Palace to “dirty” her in an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey on CBS in March 2020. These tensions would have led to a distance between the two couples, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, now exiled in America, opposed to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The hatchet had been buried during a special event in honor of their late mother, Princess Diana. Side by side in the gardens of Kensington Palace, the children of the princess had unveiled a moving life-size statue in her honor on July 1. Since then, the two men do not seem to have seen each other again, but their mother will soon bring them together again as part of the Diana Award, also called the Legacy Award.
The award ceremony will be held in December in Althorp (England), more precisely in the stately home in Northamptonshire, where Lady Di grew up. Her brother Earl Spencer will welcome the guests. Tessy Ojo, the director of the Diana Award, who was one of the guests at Meghan Markle and Harry’s wedding, maintained to the Daily Mail, “We are delighted to still have the support of the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex.” Before recalling that “at the moment, [the Diana Award is] the only charity that involves both of them. It doesn’t matter where they are in the world.” Finally, Tessy Ojo clarified that “the Dukes will be heavily involved because it will be a full week of events.”
Youth and the future rewarded
The award is given annually to young people, “selfless role models who, like Diana, are transforming the lives of others, creating and sustaining positive change in their communities and the world,” says the official Diana’s Legacy website.
