At war with the tabloids for several years, Meghan Markle can rejoice in having won a battle against the publisher of the Mail on Sunday.
Absolutely nothing will discourage Meghan Markle. For more than two years, the Duchess of Sussex has been fighting against Associated Newspapers Limited, the press group and publisher of the Daily Mail, MailOnline and The Mail on Sunday. At issue is the publication of excerpts from a letter that Meghan Markle had addressed in 2018 to Thomas Markle, her father. After winning a lawsuit for defamation and violation of privacy last February, the wife of Prince Harry was still waiting for the hearing on copyright. The latter took place this Wednesday, May 5.
While Judge Mark Warby and Associated Newspapers Limited had recently expressed doubts about the author of the said letter, saying that it could have been partly written by Jason Knauf, former communications secretary of the Sussexes, the latter has categorically denied being the co-author. Judge Mark Warby thus rendered a summary judgment, saying that Meghan Markle was indeed alone in writing the letter addressed to Thomas Markle. Another victory for the young woman, whose disagreements with Associated Newspapers Limited seem to drag on.
Meghan Markle’s victory soon on the front page?
After the defeat of Associated Newspapers Limited during the trial for defamation and violation of privacy last February, the famous publisher was then ordered to publish the information on Meghan Markle’s victory on the front page of its tabloids. But the case is not about to be over because, according to the Express.co, Associated Newspaper has asked for permission to appeal.
