Meghan Markle stripped of her titles? Why Elizabeth II will not dare

0

Meghan Markle is no longer a royal highness, and some Britons would like her to lose her other titles. Except that it is the Queen who decides, and it is not as easy as it seems.

Members of England’s royal family usually have a duty of reserve in matters of politics. But since the Megxit, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have taken liberties in this respect, and have in particular expressed themselves publicly on the American presidential election. With all due respect to Donald Trump, whom the former Suits writer does not support.

These positions did not please the British, who would like Queen Elizabeth II to withdraw all her royal titles. But this seems impossible. Explanations.

Meghan Markle is no longer royal highness since the Megxit, but she retains her titles of princess and duchess by virtue of her marriage to Prince Harry, as Marlene Koenig, expert on British royalty, said on Twitter this Friday, September 25.

In short, if the Queen wanted to take away all her royal titles from Meghan, she would first have to divest her grandson, who acquired them by birth, of them. A sentimentally impossible decision to make. Moreover, even if she is exiled abroad, Prince Harry remains her darling.

Prince Harry forces Buckingham Palace to communicate

But Meghan and Harry shouldn’t push it too far. In recent weeks, they have become more and more embarrassing to the Queen. The fact that they are speaking out publicly to encourage Americans to vote (and not for Donald Trump of course) has not been very well received. Buckingham Palace had to react and stated that “all comments by Prince Harry are made in a personal capacity”.
