Meghan Markle Pays Tribute To Diana Before Leaving The Royal Family… Two Linked Fates

0

Meghan Markle’s admiration for Princess Diana is well known. On the occasion of Commonwealth Day, the Duchess of Sussex paid tribute to her with a green ensemble, reminiscent of an outfit worn by the Princess of Hearts in 1982.

Fates tied up even in the clothes they wear. The parallels between Princess Diana and Meghan Markle have never been lacking. Roturners turned princesses, media targets, tensions with the British royal family…

The Duchess of Sussex does not hide her admiration for her mother-in-law and seems to adopt an image close to her own. It is moreover this resemblance that Prince Harry’s wife has – it seems – insisted on highlighting on Commonwealth Day, last March 9. A highly symbolic event before leaving the royal family.

At Westminster Abbey, Meghan Markle shone in her emerald green hooded gown by Emilia Wickstead. The Duchess also wore a hat by William Chambers. The outfit was reminiscent of the outfit Diana wore at the military rally Trooping the Colour in 1982.

The Princess of Hearts, then 22 years old, was pregnant with Prince William. The Duke of Cambridge was born 11 days after the event, on June 21, 1982.

An undisguised tribute before his final departure from the monarchy? Ever since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided to give up a leading role in the royal family, tongues have been loosening, like Andrew Morton.

The biographer of the Princess of Wales, in a column published last January in The Sun, wanted to shed light on the Duchess of Sussex. According to him, “Diana would have immense sympathy for Meghan and Harry, especially Meghan.” He said, “Like Meghan, she found the royal world stifling, the rules and regulations tedious.” As if not to repeat the tragedies of her elder, Archie’s mother preferred to stay away from the royal family for good.
