In a lengthy interview with the Sun, six of them say that the exile of the Sussex across the Atlantic made their work much more complicated. Yet for the past three years and the engagement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, they really had nothing to complain about.
As they recount, Leila Kamapour, Sarah Mhlanga, Danielle Bourne, Harry Poulson, Freddie Marlow and Rhys Whitton have long travelled the roads of the United Kingdom to participate in events, make appearances or even take the floor.
“Work has stopped since Harry moved to the United States,” says Harry Poulson, a boat builder who realized his resemblance to the Prince when a local newspaper paparazzied him on the street in his town.
If you’re a look-alike there, you probably have a lot of work to do.” Like him, Danielle Bourne has also seen her commitments reduced to nothing more than grief. To get back to work, the Meghan Markle look-alike is hoping that the birth of a new royal baby could revive her business.
“I need Meghan to get pregnant, so work could resume. With her and Harry’s move to Los Angeles, it was inevitable that it would settle down for us look-alikes, and it has,” she says. Like her, the other copies of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle rely heavily on the couple’s plans.
A big loss of earnings
In particular, the juicy agreement they signed with Netflix. Widely commented on internationally, it could indeed allow the Sussex to come back to the forefront and thus give work to their doubles. “The Netflix deal has certainly attracted attention and it will get me work,” Rhys Whittock hopes in the Sun’s columns before Leila Karmarpour agrees: “Since Harry and Meghan moved, work has virtually stopped. But I hope the Netflix deal will get it back on track.
Like them, Sarah Green has also lost work since Megxit. A real financial windfall for the “official Meghan Markle look-alike”. In a documentary that M6 had devoted to this mother of a family, we learned that she earned the modest sum of 1,500 pounds for each of her appearances. If the royal family is anxious about the Sussex’s plans, their look-alikes are eagerly awaiting them.
