Harry and William put their differences aside for Diana: this joint project

After several years of waiting, the statue of Princess Diana will soon see the light of day at Kensington Palace. A realization for her two sons, Princesses William and Harry.

Their rivalry has not ceased to feed the press in recent months. Once united, Princes William and Harry are experiencing unprecedented tensions. Between Megxit, but also rivalries between Meghan and Kate Middleton, the relationship between the two brothers has apparently not stood the test of time. Yet there is one subject on which they will always agree: their mother, Diana.

And it is thanks to her that the two sons of Prince Charles met on the occasion of a press release issued on August 28th. “The statue that Prince William and Prince Harry commissioned to commemorate their mother, Diana, the Princess of Wales, will be installed next year, on the occasion of what should have been her 60th birthday,” the document unveils.

The work had been commissioned to mark the 20th anniversary of her death, which occurred on August 31, 1997, in Paris. Problem, the inauguration of the monument, which will be established in the white garden of Kensington Palace, had been postponed because William and Harry had asked for more time.

The two princes had demanded that certain changes be made to the statue sculpted by the artist Ian Rank-Broadley so that it would be more faithful and at the height of Princess Diana. But this was not the only source of delay. Indeed, the tensions between the two brothers compromised the realization of the statue.

Unable to agree

According to the Daily Mail, William and Harry had so far been unable to agree on what the statue should look like. This is the first time a tribute to Lady Diana has taken so long to materialize. In July 2019, Prince William told fans in front of Kensington Palace that the famous statue would arrive “very soon”. The date has now been confirmed.
