Elizabeth II’s Jubilee: Where are Meghan Markle and Prince Harry planning to stay?

0

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced on May 6 that they would be traveling to England with their two children Archie and Lilibet for Elizabeth II’s jubilee. The Sun revealed this Sunday, May 8, that the couple will be staying at a home they know well.

Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee festivities will take place this June and the list of royals who will be there to honor the monarch is keeping the British press very busy. While the Queen generated concern by suddenly canceling her appearance at the opening of Parliament this Tuesday, May 10, 2022, others are pining to witness Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle’s reunion with the rest of the royals. Based in California since retiring from royal duties in January 2020, the Sussexes have only visited England together once last April, both of them visiting Europe to attend the Invictus Games.

So on May 6, 2022, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced in a press release that they would be making the trip in June from Los Angeles with their two children Archie and Lilibet, to celebrate the Queen’s 70th anniversary. This will be the first time that Elizabeth II will meet her great-granddaughter, born on June 4, 2021. The Sun reported this Sunday, May 8, that the little family will stay at Frogmore Cottage, a residence they previously occupied from 2019 to 2020. According to the tabloid, security around the cottage has been tightened in recent days.

The mansion has been occupied since the fall of 2020 by Prince Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie, who gets along very well with Meghan Markle, as well as her husband Jack Brooksbank and their son August. Our sources said Prince Andrew’s daughter will have the cottage’s guest rooms prepared to accommodate the Sussexes. This is not the first time the 32-year-old mother has welcomed her cousin to her former residence. The duke stayed there in April 2021, on the occasion of the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip.

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and Prince Andrew banned from the balcony of Buckingham Palace

If Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will leave their lavish Santa Barbara villa to join Princess Eugenie’s cottage, it does not mean that they will be among those invited in an official capacity to the festivities planned for the Queen’s platinum jubilee. Buckingham Palace has informed that neither Prince Andrew nor the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be allowed on the palace balcony for the opening of the jubilee on June 2. The crown only wants to be seen in the presence of official members of the royal family. On the other hand, the grandson of the monarch, his wife and his uncle will surely be invited to Windsor Castle to share some family moments.
