If Prince Harry and Meghan Markle choose not to attend the coronation of Charles III on May 6, they could take the opportunity to keep a low profile or, on the contrary, to publicly display themselves in the United States.
With the coronation of Charles III less than a month away, the question on everyone’s lips is whether Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle will attend the historic event. And if they decline, what will they do on May 6? The Telegraph seems to have some answers. The daily newspaper has, in fact, released information about the Sussexes’ possible agenda on that date.
A spokesman for the couple, who live in California, confirmed that he had been in “email correspondence” with the king’s office about the event. But the Duke of Sussex is reportedly currently in a “difficult situation” to make his decision. If Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decide not to attend, they could choose to celebrate the 4th birthday of their son Archie, who was born on May 6, in private. The other option would be to attend an event in the United States to mark the occasion. For example, the couple had visited a cemetery in Los Angeles after missing the Remembrance Sunday commemoration last November.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s fears
After their documentary series on Netflix and the Memoirs of Prince William’s brother released between late 2022 and early 2023, the relationship between the Sussexes and the royal family, already cool, has clearly cooled further. And many British people would not have appreciated frankly the revelations and the multiple accusations of the parents of Archie and Lilibet. The latter are therefore dreading the reception they might receive if they chose to come to the coronation.
The most likely scenario, according to The Telegraph, would be for Prince Harry to attend alone, with Meghan remaining in the United States to celebrate Archie’s birthday. Last January, the youngest child of King Charles III said in an interview with ITV: “A lot can happen between now and then, but you know, the door is always open, the ball is in their court. There’s a lot to discuss and I really hope they’re willing to sit down and talk about it.” Information on whether or not they’ll be coming should be forthcoming soon, with the ceremony now just weeks away.
