Meghan Markle: “I voted!”, this new photo that will make some noise

0

This Tuesday, November 8, the day of the mid-term elections in the United States, Meghan Markle shared a photo of her with a sticker “I voted”. A citizen gesture that should not go unnoticed on both sides of the Atlantic.

This Tuesday, November 8, the celebrities were numerous to call the Americans to the polls for the mid-term elections. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry went even further by creating a service to make voters’ lives easier. Their Archewell Foundation website invites American citizens to call a number to find their “polling place” and make sure they are “ready to vote”. On the same page, there is also a photograph of the former actress, with a smile on her face, proudly displaying a “I Voted” sticker on her chest.

If the Duchess of Sussex voted in California, her husband, Prince Harry, is not allowed to do the same. Indeed, the younger brother of William does not have American citizenship, but can not vote in the United Kingdom either. Historically, members of the royal family have not been allowed to get involved politically, and that translates into a ban on voting in their own country. However, since moving to North America in 2020, Archie and Lilibet’s parents have been quick to get involved politically, which is displeasing on both sides of the Atlantic.

Meghan Markle, a very committed woman

In 2021, Meghan Markle had canvassed Republican senators on their private phone to convince them to vote for paternity leave. The Duchess of Sussex had thus called Senators Susan Collins and Shelley Moore Capito, who admitted to being shocked by this sudden call. The two politicians were also outraged that Meghan Markle would use her royal title in order to lobby for her own interests. The mother of the family has reacted many times in the last two years, listening to her own beliefs to the chagrin of the British Crown.
