Meghan Markle and Prince Harry: mini cars, laughter and Gérard Lenorman… the couple has fun in the Netherlands!

On the occasion of the Invictus Games, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle offered themselves a real breath of fresh air this Saturday, April 16. The royal couple let themselves be driven by (very) young drivers, at the wheel of mini-cars, during a sports challenge in The Hague.

Announced for several weeks in the Netherlands, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry did go to the Invictus Games in The Hague. This competition, organized by the Duke of Sussex, is in its fifth edition. This year, the Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge kicked off the event. This driving challenge tested the skill, precision, observation and teamwork of the participants. There was even an event dedicated to children! It is during this last one that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made sensation.

With the famous Gérard Lenorman song “La ballade des gens heureux” playing in the background, Harry and Meghan guided the children at the wheel of a mini Range Rover on a course full of pitfalls. Between tight turns and small hills, the future driving aces shared a real moment of communion with the royal couple. Smiling and involved, Harry even celebrated the crossing of the finish line by raising his arms. For her part, Meghan cheered with determination for her designated driver. One thing is for sure, the Sussexes are really comfortable with children. And for good reason, their son Archie Harrison, 2, and daughter Lilibet Diana, 10 months, are a big part of their lives.

A must-see event for the royal couple

This event reminded fans of the coup that their passion for the Invictus Games has not wavered from previous editions. The games mean a lot to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Indeed, in addition to being at the initiative, Prince Harry had marked his first official appearance with Meghan Markle, in 2017, in Toronto. Unfortunately, since 2020, the event has been systematically postponed due to the health situation. The year 2022 thus marks the return, in great pomp and circumstance, of an event particularly appreciated by lovers of sporting challenges.
