Meghan Markle and Harry’s choice to limit their number of children to two has been praised by an association that has given them an award for it.
“A model for other families”. These words were used by the British charity Population Matters about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. As part of the United Nations World Population Day, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex received an award, along with nine other people, for limiting their family to two children, following the birth of their daughter Lilibet Diana on June 4. The association praised a “wise decision”, while noting that “a small family is also a happy family”.
“By choosing and publicly declaring their intention to limit their family to two, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are helping to ensure a brighter future for their children and providing a role model for other families,” said a spokesman for Population Matter. He also touted the environmental impact of such a decision: “Having a smaller family reduces our impact on the Earth and provides a better chance for all our children, their children and future generations to thrive on a healthy planet.”
They won’t have more than two children
Parents of two children, Archie and Lilibet, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are determined not to expand their family any further. Prince William’s brother had mentioned his intention to have no more than two children during a conversation with chimpanzee expert Dr. Jane Goodall in Vogue magazine in 2019. “Surely, being as smart as we all are, or as evolved as we are all supposed to be, we should be able to leave something better for the next generation,” he had said in particular. These words are in line with the values advocated by the association Population Matters. Their award is therefore quite logical.
