Very discreet about her daughter, Meghan Markle has once again caused surprise this Wednesday, October 27. In a video published on the YouTube channel Brightly Storytime, the Duchess of Sussex talked about her children’s book, entitled The Bench. Released last June, the novel tells the story of a special relationship between a father and son through the eyes of a mother. Sitting in the shade in her garden and dressed in a simple shirt, Prince Harry’s wife explained where her inspiration came from: “I wrote this as a poem for my husband and our son Archie, and then I turned it into a book so you could enjoy it too.” The American actress has remained completely silent regarding her daughter.
The poem was reportedly written by Meghan Markle after the first Father’s Day for Prince Harry, right after Archie’s birth. The Duchess of Sussex would then have been inspired by their own relationship to write The Bench. “This is illustrated by Christian Robinson and I asked him to do something special for me and use watercolors,” she explained at the beginning of the video. Surprisingly, the American made no reference to her second child, Lilibet Diana born on June 4. However, the youngest of the family also has the right to a small appearance in the children’s book. On one of the pages, the whole family is indeed drawn, represented in their Californian property.
A single publishing house and soon a memoir
As a reminder, Meghan Markle has signed a contract with the publishing house Penguin Random House. This is the same publisher for the future memoirs of Prince Harry, which is scheduled for publication during the year 2022. The announcement of the book had made the walls of Buckingham Palace tremble. The Duke of Sussex should confide in particular on his adolescence and his relationship with the rest of the royal family. A gesture perceived as a kind of “therapy” for some royal experts. The American actress’ appearance on YouTube marked her first public appearance since her trip to New York last month with her husband.
